Instructors quarters

When Dr Lambert and I were working with Dr Robitaille at Tarleton State Universities International Programs Office, Dr Robitaille made a clear argument for having instructors quarters at a different location from the Study Abroad student participants. While this post is not intended to discuss, or even comment on, quartering instructors away from the student lodging, it is about my lodging here in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

Villa Secesja Balcony

I am at the Villa Secesja. It is a quaint cluster of rooms with the entrance tucked away down a pedestrian alley off of Gdanska which is a fairly busy street complete with a trolly line (ul. Gdanska 18 – 85-006 Bydgoszcz, Poland). Some of the rooms have a postage stamp sized balcony. Mine does.

The view from the balcony is not bad for being in a city. This pedestrian alley leads to a park with fountain and pond.

The picture of the balcony shows a trail leading at a right angel to the alley which is below and runs to the left out of the picture. The room next to mine has a balcony that is out of the picture to the right.

This picture is the view looking down and a bit to the right from the balcony. It is a view  looking down on a little deck with an overhanging tree. In the right hand corner of the picture I caught a bit of the balcony rail top. When the picture was taken we were experiencing overcast after some rain. Some of the locals are commenting on the unseasonably cold and wet “awful” weather this week (okropny pagoda). While it is colder because of the overcast it offered a good opportunity for a picture without the harsh contrasts that results from bright sunshine and deeply shaded spots.

This is my quarters for a couple of weeks until Dr Lambert arrives and then I move to another room and he will take this nice little apartment type room.
